About us

Hey there!
On behalf of Heather’s Old Skool Village, it is an honor to welcome you here. We are a nonprofit organization founded by Brenda Ornelas in 2015, following two years of renovating an old WBAP tower station. Today, it provides a safe, home-style space for adults with disabilities to learn, work, and build meaningful community, inspired by her desire to support her former student, Heather.
What began as a vision for one has become a place of belonging for many. Here, every individual is treated with dignity and respect, not as a project to be fixed, but as a person to be known and loved. We believe each life carries purpose and potential, and we are committed to nurturing both in an environment that feels like family.
Our hope is that when you step into this space, you sense warmth, laughter, and the quiet joy of people growing together. Thank you for being part of a story that continues to unfold with compassion, perseverance, and grace.
Our Story
Brenda was a Life Skills teacher at Lake Worth High School in the special education department and met a sassy student by the name of Heather. Sure enough, Heather had a dream and wanted to be a Life Skills teacher. It was her dream to one day be a teacher and open her own school.
Our Community
Heather’s Old Skool Village includes many individuals in our community who have special needs or are classified as disabled. Many are involved and serve alongside organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Target, North Ridge Construction Group, Southern Oaks Golf and Tennis Club, and many more.
Our Hope
We envision a future where the needs of the special needs community are not only met but exceeded with unparalleled dedication and innovation. We are committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity where every individual, regardless of ability, is welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive.
